This image was taken on the shores of Lake Superior while out shooting sunrise during a Polar Vortex. It was a frigid morning which made for beautiful ice and sea smoke.

Sometimes a composition screams at you to take it’s photo: this was one of those times. A Polar Vortex had covered this bay with fresh ice leaving pancake ice and sea smoke along the rocks. With the rising sun and the thick ice coating the rocks it was easy to pick out this shot and wait for the light. Sure it was cold at -35*C, but oh what a morning on the Shores of Lake Superior!
